The Donald Trump Campaign was implemented in February 2025 in response to political decisions and international discussions concerning funding for global health programmes. Its purpose was to draw attention to the risks associated with reductions in international assistance and the potential consequences of such decisions for TB programmes in countries with a high burden of the disease.
The campaign was primarily directed at political leaders in the United States, including, as its title indicates, the President of the United States, whose decisions had a direct impact on funding cuts affecting international programmes. An open letter was sent to the President outlining how reductions in international funding could disrupt continuity in diagnosis and treatment, reduce access to health and social services, and further worsen the situation of the most vulnerable population groups.
The open letter and the accompanying communication campaign emphasised the importance of preserving international solidarity and honouring financial commitments in the field of global health.
