We Need Fair Disease Split to Save Lives and End TB by 2030, #TB33%

Year 2024

The We Need Fair Disease Split to Save Lives and End TB by 2030 campaign, promoted under the hashtag #TB33%, was launched in November 2024 as a global advocacy initiative. It aimed to secure a fair allocation of financial resources among the three diseases addressed by programmes supported by the Global Fund. The campaign’s key demand was to increase the proportion of resources allocated to the TB response in line with the global burden of the disease and the actual needs of countries and communities.

The campaign’s main target audiences included the Global Fund’s leadership, donor-country governments, international public health organisations, policymakers and experts who influence the allocation of international funding. It also targeted activists, civil society organisations, networks of TB-affected people, journalists and the broader international public capable of supporting its advocacy demands.

The campaign emphasised that without adequate funding, it would be impossible to substantially reduce TB incidence and mortality or achieve the global goal of ending tuberculosis by 2030. Network members disseminated coordinated messages, videos, infographics and advocacy appeals addressed to donors, governments and international partners.

Campaign materials were shared through Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, the TBpeople website, partner organisations’ pages and national networks in more than 25 countries. The use of a common hashtag helped unite participants’ messages and increase the international visibility of the campaign’s advocacy demand.
