A Fully Funded Stop TB Partnership Challenge Facility for Civil Society
Year 2025
The multisectoral A Fully Funded Stop TB Partnership Challenge Facility for Civil Society campaign advocated for the full and sustainable financing of the Challenge Facility for Civil Society. This mechanism plays an important role in supporting civil society organisations and communities engaged in the TB response at national, regional and global levels.
The campaign’s principal objective was to mobilise international partners to secure predictable funding for initiatives implemented directly by communities. Its communication materials highlighted the critical role of civil society organisations in identifying barriers to accessing services, supporting people throughout treatment, protecting human rights, addressing stigma and conducting community-led monitoring.
The campaign was promoted through social media, the online resources of TBpeople and its partner organisations, international advocacy platforms, professional networks, thematic events and global forums.
One of the campaign’s most important components was a petition that collected more than 11,000 signatures, exceeding the initial target of 10,000.
The petition’s main demands were:
- Funding: Allocate at least USD 20 million annually, or USD 60 million over three years, to community-led TB programmes.
- Global Fund resources: Secure and protect resources for civil society organisations supporting people affected by tuberculosis.
- Access: Accelerate universal access to TB prevention, quality diagnosis and treatment.
- Addressing stigma: Reduce discrimination and support people who have overcome the disease.
The multisectoral format brought together representatives of civil society, affected communities, healthcare systems, international organisations and donor institutions.
